Ferrari Land is the only theme park in Europe built entirely around the legendary Italian brand, and itโs the third park of the PortAventura World resort near Salou. It opened in April 2017, cost more than 100 million euros and covers around 60,000 square metres. The star of the show is Red Force, the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Europe, but thereโs much more: thrill towers, F1 simulators, a race track for families and plenty of rides for children.

Where is Ferrari Land?
Ferrari Land is located in Spain, on the Costa Daurada (Costa Dorada in Spanish) in Catalonia. Itโs part of the PortAventura World resort, on the boundary between Salou and Vila-seca in the province of Tarragona. The park is about 13 km from the city of Tarragona and the same distance from Reus airport.
From central Barcelona itโs around 108 km, or about an hour and a quarter by car. The beaches of Salou, La Pineda and Cambrils are all a short drive away, so many families combine the parks with a beach holiday. Donโt confuse it with Ferrari World, which is a different, indoor park in Abu Dhabi.
Ferrari Land and PortAventura World - how the parks fit together
PortAventura World is a large holiday resort with three theme parks, six themed hotels, restaurants and shops. PortAventura Park is the original theme park, with lands such as Mediterrร nia, Far West and China. PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park is the water park, and Ferrari Land is the newest and smallest of the three.
Ferrari Land has its own ticket, but youโll also find combined tickets for two or three parks, over one or several days. Red Force - the tallest roller coaster in Europe
Red Force is the reason most thrill-seekers come here. It launches you from 0 to its top speed of 180 km/h in just five seconds, then sends you straight up a vertical tower 112 metres high before dropping down the other side. Built by the Liechtenstein-based manufacturer Intamin, itโs a vertical accelerator with around 880 metres of track, and the ride is over in under a minute.
Red Force opened with the park on 7 April 2017 and is billed by the park as the tallest and fastest coaster in Europe. For a few months between 2024 and 2025 it was even the tallest roller coaster in the world. Riders must be between 1.40 and 1.95 metres tall, so check your teenagersโ height before you promise them a ride.
Thrill Towers
The Thrill Towers are two towers of about 55 metres. Itโs a bounce back tower designed like Ferrari engine pistons: youโre shot up the tower and then bounced back down, moving in both directions. Itโs a shorter ride than Red Force, but itโs the next step up for anyone who wants more than the family rides.
To ride alone you must be at least 1.40 metres tall, or 1.30 metres if you ride with an adult. The maximum height is 1.95 metres, the same as on Red Force.
The Ferrari Experience - simulators, history and the Pole Position Challenge
The Ferrari Experience building is the heart of Ferrari Land. Itโs where you learn about the history of the brand and its founder, Enzo Ferrari, and it holds several of the parkโs best attractions. Plan an hour here between the big outdoor rides.
Flying Dreams
Flying Dreams takes you on a simulated lap around the world in a Ferrari GT. You fly past famous places such as the Egyptian pyramids, the Great Wall of China and the Grand Canyon. Itโs a mild ride and suits the whole family, with a minimum height of 1.00 metre with an adult.
Racing Legends
Racing Legends is a Formula 1 experience inside a dome, using projection technology to put you behind the wheel of a racing car. Itโs another mild ride, open to children from 1.10 metres with an adult.
Pole Position Challenge and the Ferrari Land Gallery
Pole Position Challenge is an F1 simulator, similar to those racing drivers use for training, and the minimum height is 1.40 metres. Places are limited, so go there first if itโs on your list. The Ferrari Land Gallery is a small museum about the brand, open to everyone, with no height limit.
Maranello Grand Race and Pit Stop Record
The Maranello Grand Race is a race track where you drive against friends and family. Riders need to be 1.30 metres to drive alone, or 1.00 metre with an adult. Pit Stop Record lets two teams compete to change the wheels on a full-size Formula 1 car as fast as possible, just like a real F1 pit crew. Itโs short, competitive and great fun for groups.
Ferrari Land attractions for children
Ferrari Land works well for families with younger kids, because a large part of the park is made for them. Almost half of the attractions are childrenโs rides, so the little ones have plenty to do while older family members queue for Red Force.
Junior Red Force
Junior Red Force is a family roller coaster inspired by the big one. Children can ride alone from 1.20 metres, or from 0.95 metres with an adult, so itโs often the first coaster for young petrol heads.
Junior Championship, Champions Race, Crazy Pistons and Flying Race
Junior Championship, Champions Race, Crazy Pistons and Flying Race are childrenโs rides, and on some of them adults can only ride with a child. Kids Tower is another ride for younger children, and Kids Podium is an attraction for children aged three to twelve. Height rules apply to every ride, so check your childrenโs height before you go.
Italian streets, shows and food
The park is themed as a trip through Italy. Youโll find replicas of famous Italian buildings, including the Colosseum in Rome, La Scala in Milan and St Markโs Square in Venice, and the main building is inspired by the Ferrari factory in Maranello. Born to Race is the parkโs show, with acrobatics and dance.
For lunch, Trattoria Maranello is a table-service Italian restaurant, and Pit Lane is the self-service option. Snack bars such as Paddock, Finish Line and Stop & Go cover quick bites, and Ice Cream Box serves Italian-style ice cream. The Ferrari Land Shop is the place for Ferrari merchandise, and itโs hard to leave without something red.
Ferrari Land opening times and the best time to visit
Ferrari Land is a seasonal park. The season usually starts in spring, around Easter, and runs until early January, with the park closed for the rest of the winter. Opening times vary a lot through the season: some days the park opens around lunchtime, and on some summer and Halloween days it stays open into the evening. Times change by season, so check the calendar for your dates.
The quietest days are weekdays outside the school holidays, in May, June and September. In July and August, queues for Red Force can be long, so itโs worth arriving early and riding the big rides first. How long do you need at Ferrari Land?
Ferrari Land is a compact park, and most visitors need around half a day. Thatโs enough to ride Red Force, the Thrill Towers and the simulators, watch the show and have lunch. With small children, plan a little longer for the childrenโs rides.
Can you do PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land in one day? Yes, many visitors do, as the two parks are right next to each other. Start in Ferrari Land in the morning, when Red Force queues are shorter, and spend the afternoon and evening in PortAventura Park, which has far more rides. If you have more time, two or three days let you add Caribe Aquatic Park without rushing.
How to get to Ferrari Land
By car, take the C-32 or the AP-7 motorway from Barcelona and leave at exit 35 for Vila-seca, Salou and PortAventura. The resort is well signposted and has large car parks. A hire car is the easiest way to combine the parks with the beaches of the Costa Daurada and the Roman sights of Tarragona.
By train, regional trains from Barcelona Sants stop at Salou-PortAventura station, about 1 km from the park entrance. The journey takes about an hour and a half. Buses also link the resort with Barcelona and the towns of the Costa Daurada, and Reus airport is about 15 minutes away by car.
Is Ferrari Land worth it?
Ferrari Land is worth it if you love roller coasters, cars or Formula 1, or if youโre already staying at PortAventura World. Red Force alone is a reason to come, and the kidsโ area makes it a good day for families. On its own, though, the park is small, so itโs best value as part of a two-park or three-park visit.
If youโre spending a few days in the region, add a city break to the trip. Barcelona is close enough for a few nights, with sights such as Camp Nou for football fans and the Barcelona Aquarium for families. Further south, Valencia is another great family city.
