Which water park in Mallorca? Western, Aqualand and Hidropark compared

Date:

Three parks, three corners of the island and three very different days out. Pick the wrong one and you could spend more time in the car than on the slides.

Mallorca (or Majorca, as many British visitors spell it) has three big water parks, and each one sits in a different part of the island. Western Water Park is on the hill above Magaluf in the south-west, Aqualand El Arenal is at the eastern end of the Playa de Palma, and Hidropark is in Port dโ€™Alcรบdia in the north. Choosing between the water parks in Mallorca is mostly about where youโ€™re staying, how old your children are and how big you like your slides.

In this guide we compare all three, with the best rides for thrill seekers, the areas for younger children, opening dates and how to get there. Youโ€™ll also find ticket tips, the rules on food and lockers, and a few other family attractions to explore on days out of the water. If youโ€™re planning a bigger trip, our guide to the best water parks in Spain shows how Mallorca compares with the Canary Islands and the mainland.

Is there a water park in Mallorca?

Yes, Mallorca has three proper water parks: Aqualand El Arenal, Western Water Park and Hidropark Alcรบdia. Thereโ€™s no water park inside the city of Palma itself, but Aqualand and Western are both around 20 minutes away by car, and both can be reached by bus. Hidropark is the only water park in the north of the island, so visitors staying around the Bay of Alcรบdia have their own.

All three are seasonal. They open in spring, run at full speed in July and August and close for the winter, usually in October. If youโ€™re visiting Mallorca between November and March, youโ€™ll need to look at other attractions instead.

Older guides sometimes list Aqualand Magaluf as well. That park closed years ago and has been abandoned since, so today the only water park in the Magaluf area is Western Water Park, which many visitors simply call Western Park. Several big family hotels on the island also have their own splash parks with slides, but those are for hotel guests only.

Water parks in Mallorca at a glance

If you just want the quick version, hereโ€™s how the three Majorca water parks compare:

  • Aqualand El Arenal: at the eastern end of the Bay of Palma, with around 20 attractions, several childrenโ€™s areas and the newest slides on the island. It opened on 4 May in 2026 and is easy to reach on EMT bus 23 from Palma.
  • Western Water Park: on the hill above Magaluf, with around 20 slides, The Beast, the 220-metre Gran Caรฑรณn and four childrenโ€™s areas in a Wild West setting. It opened on 2 April in 2026, and TIB bus 106 runs from Palma.
  • Hidropark Alcรบdia: in Port dโ€™Alcรบdia, on around 40,000 square metres, with Kamikaze slides, a toddler splash area and a 54-hole mini golf course. It opened on 1 April in 2026 and is within walking distance of many hotels in the resort.

Aqualand El Arenal - the biggest water park in Mallorca

Aqualand El Arenal is the largest waterpark on the island and the one with the most slides. It sits beside the Palma to Arenal motorway, at the eastern end of the Playa de Palma, so itโ€™s the obvious choice if youโ€™re staying in El Arenal, Can Pastilla or Palma. We cover it in depth in our guide to Aqualand El Arenal.

Slides for thrill seekers

The big names here are King Cobra, Banzai and Tsunami, and two new water slides, Hurakรกn and Kukulcรกn, were added for the 2026 season. Teenagers usually head straight for them, so go there first if you want short queues. Most of the biggest rides have height limits, which staff check at the bottom of each tower.

Kidzworld, the lazy river and the wave pool

Kidzworld is the part of the park for little ones. Itโ€™s split into two childrenโ€™s play areas, Dragonland and Polynesia, with small slides, fountains and shallow pools. Families with mixed ages also like the Congo River, a slow lazy river, and the wave pool, where you can relax between rides.

Opening dates and getting there

In 2026 Aqualand opened on 4 May. Itโ€™s usually open from 10am to 5pm in May, June and September and from 10am to 6pm in July and August, but times change by season. Aqualand has the shortest season of the three and usually closes at the end of September or in early October. From Palma, EMT city bus 23 stops opposite the car park. If youโ€™re driving, take the motorway towards El Arenal and leave at exit 13.

Western Water Park - Wild West fun in Magaluf

Western Water Park is the most strongly themed water park on the island. It sits on the hill behind Magaluf, in the municipality of Calviร , and itโ€™s built around a Wild West town with saloons, wooden forts and desert canyons. It began life in 1987 as a cowboy theme park, and the slides arrived in 2002. Itโ€™s the closest park if youโ€™re staying in Magaluf, Palmanova or Santa Ponsa. Read our full guide to Western Water Park for ride-by-ride tips.

The Beast and the big rides

The Beast is the ride the park is famous for: four slides that start from the same tower, one of them so steep that you feel weightless for a moment, and the tallest is often described as the highest water slide in Spain. Gran Caรฑรณn, at around 220 metres, is the longest slide in Mallorca, and up to four people ride it together in a big ring. Boomerang, Tornado and the Crazy Horses racing slide complete the list for thrill seekers.

Splash zones for younger kids

The El Paso area has the calmer pools and splash zones, and there are four childrenโ€™s areas in total. The wave pool in the centre of the park has a sloping, beach-style entry, which makes it easy for toddlers. Most of the bigger rides have a minimum height of around 1.1 to 1.2 metres.

Opening dates and getting there

Western Water Park opened on 2 April in 2026. Itโ€™s usually open from 10am to 5pm in spring and autumn and from 10am to 6pm in July and August, and it closes from November to March. TIB bus 106 from Palma stops a short walk from the entrance, and thereโ€™s a free car park next to the park, which fills up on summer weekends.

Hidropark Alcรบdia - the water park in the north

Hidropark is the only water park in northern Mallorca. Itโ€™s in Port dโ€™Alcรบdia, a short walk or taxi ride from the hotels along the bay. Itโ€™s smaller than the two parks in the south, but if youโ€™re staying in Alcรบdia, Playa de Muro or Puerto Pollensa, it saves you a drive of an hour or more each way.

Kamikaze, Sliderang and family slides

The Kamikaze slides are the tallest, fastest and steepest in the park. Sliderang is a big U-shaped slide that swings you up one side and back again, and Spiral is an enclosed, twisting tube. For family fun, Soft Track has seven lanes side by side, so you can race your kids or friends to the bottom. Itโ€™s short, fast and great fun.

Areas for little ones

Childrenโ€™s World has a giant octopus and three mini water slides, and the Kids Zone and Minipark add arches, water jets and small slides. The Hidrokids area has a spray park and a shallow pool for toddlers. Parents can relax in Chill & Play, a large, calm pool, or join the kids in the wave pool. Outside the water there are trampolines and a mini golf course.

Opening dates and getting there

Hidropark opened on 1 April in 2026 and has the longest season of the three, usually until the end of October. Itโ€™s open from 11am to 5pm in April, May, September and October, from 10am to 5pm in June and from 10am to 6pm in July and August. The park is on Avinguda Tucร  in Port dโ€™Alcรบdia, within easy reach of most hotels in the resort, and it has its own car park, which is paid in July and August.

Which is the best water park in Mallorca for your family?

Thereโ€™s no single winner. The right choice depends on the ages of your children and where youโ€™re staying, so match the park to your trip:

  • Teenagers, adults and thrill seekers: Aqualand El Arenal has the most slides and the newest rides, so groups who want to ride everything get the most out of it.
  • Small children and theming: Western Water Park is compact and easy to get around, and the Wild West setting turns the visit into a small adventure, not just a day at a pool with slides.
  • Staying in the north: Hidropark is the clear choice, because the parks in the south are a long drive away.
  • A quieter day with toddlers: Hidropark is smaller and calmer than the other two, which suits families with very young kids.

Comparing Aqualand and Western Water Park comes down to size versus atmosphere. Aqualand is bigger, Western has The Beast and the stronger theme. If youโ€™re based on the Playa de Palma, Aqualand is closer, and if youโ€™re in Magaluf or Palmanova, Western is.

Water park tickets and combined tickets

You can book a ticket for all three parks online for a set visit date, and itโ€™s worth doing a few days ahead in summer, when the parks can sell out. Ticket prices change every season, and booking online is usually cheaper than paying at the gate. Children under three go free at all three. Aqualand and Western Water Park also sell packages with a bus from the main resorts, which is handy if you donโ€™t have a car.

If youโ€™re planning more than one day out, look at combined tickets. Western Water Park can be combined with Marineland, which makes a good holiday plan for families staying in Calviร : one day of slides, one day of dolphins and sea lions.

Food, lockers and sun loungers

Each park has its own rules on food, so check them before you pack a picnic. Hidropark is the strictest: you canโ€™t bring food or drink in, apart from water in plastic bottles, fruit and food for babies, and soft cool bags are fine but rigid cool boxes arenโ€™t. The upside is that you can leave and come back in on the same day at no extra charge. Western Water Park has no re-entry, so plan to eat at one of its snack bars, and Aqualand has around eight places to eat, mostly pizza, burgers, hot dogs and ice cream.

Lockers cost extra at all three parks, and the ones near the entrance go early, so grab one as soon as you arrive. At Western Water Park there are sun loungers around the pools and shaded areas at the edges of the park. Aqualand charges for sunbeds in some areas, and Hidropark charges for hammocks in set zones but has free shaded lawns. You canโ€™t take umbrellas or beach chairs into Hidropark.

How long do you need at a water park in Mallorca?

Plan a full day at Aqualand or Western Water Park. Most families arrive at opening time and stay until closing, and with older kids you can ride the main slides in three or four hours on a quiet day. In July and August the queues stretch that out, and the wave pool, the lazy river and the childrenโ€™s areas easily fill the rest of the day.

Hidropark is smaller, so a shorter visit works well, especially with toddlers. Because you can leave and come back, itโ€™s easy to split the day with lunch at the hotel or a few hours on the beach in Port dโ€™Alcรบdia.

Tips for a great day at the water parks in Mallorca

Arrive at opening time. Queues for the big slides build after midday, especially in summer, and sun loungers near the wave pools go early. Do the main rides first and save the lazy river and the splash areas for the afternoon.

Measure your children before you visit, as height limits are strictly enforced. Each slide has its own minimum height, and at Hidropark some also have a maximum, so check the signs at the start of each ride. Pack high-factor sun cream, hats, rash vests for little ones and a waterproof pouch for your phone.

If you only have one day for a water park, pick the closest one and spend the whole day there. The parks get busiest in July, August and at weekends, when locals visit too. A weekday in June or September gives you shorter queues and a calmer day, and the weather is usually still hot enough for a full day in the water. In late September and October, check the dates before you go, as Aqualand is usually the first to close.

Are the water parks in Mallorca accessible?

Pushchairs are allowed at Hidropark and Western Water Park and work well on the main paths, but youโ€™ll have to leave them at the bottom of the slide stairs. Hidropark has adapted facilities and discounted tickets for visitors with disabilities. At reception, you can ask for its accessibility protocol, which gives you a wristband, tells the lifeguards and lets one companion ride with you without queuing.

Western Water Park is built on a hillside, with plenty of steps and slopes. If anyone in your group uses a wheelchair, contact the park before you book to check which areas and rides you can use.

Katmandu Park, Jungle Parc and other theme parks in Mallorca

Mallorca doesnโ€™t have big amusement parks with roller coasters, but there are plenty of family attractions for days out of the water. Katmandu Park in Magaluf is an attraction park with an upside-down house, optical illusion rooms and interactive games, and it works well on a cloudy day. Jungle Parc in Santa Ponsa is a treetop adventure park with rope courses and zip lines for older kids and adults.

Animal lovers have two good options close to Palma. Marineland Mallorca in Costa dโ€™en Blanes has dolphins, sea lions and exotic birds, and the Palma Aquarium is a great choice if it rains. For something completely different, the caves in Mallorca near Porto Cristo are cool even in August. With a hire car, you can easily combine a water park with a beach afternoon or a trip to the other side of the island.
